The health system in Syunik marz includes 24 health CJSC
with their 101 subdivisions, which organize and provide medical assistance
and services to the population. There are 6 urban hospitals
(Kapan, Goris, Sisian, Meghry, Agarak), 5 regional polyclinics (Kapan,
Goris, Sisian, Meghry, Kadjaran), 4 stomatological polyclinics and
2 out-patient clinics, 3 health centers (Tegh, Darpas, Tatev), 3 regional
prophylactic centers (skin-venereal, neuro-psychiatric, TB prophylactic)
and a regional blood transfusion center. The health sector in marz has 324 doctors, 745 nurses
and 376 assistants. The number of beds in-patient clinics is 700.
19 doctors and 45 nurses serve 10.000 people. The medical service of the population is free of charge
and also chargeable. In 2002 within the free of charge system of medical
assistance of service guaranteed by the government 5853 patients have
been cured in hospitals and 217562 patients in polyclinics and out-patient
clinics. Amount of 362.3 million drams has been granted to health
sector from the state budget, debts of 192.1 million drams of previous
years have been paid off. Within the chargeable system of medical assistance and
service 847 patients in hospitals and 26.133 patients in polyclinics
and out-patient clinics have been cured. In 2002 1564 babies were born in maternity hospitals
of marz. The most widely spread diseases in marz are mental diseases
(40%), diabetes (33.15%), tumour diseases (17.65%) and tuberculosis
(9.2%). Privatizing of stomatological clinics is ongoing. By 2005 it is planned to replace gradually the existing
out-patient and polyclinic service with 68 offices of Family Doctor
in Syunik marz. In 2002 in the scope of World Bank Health programs
11 offices of Family Doctor have been built, and the construction
of three such offices is ongoing. They are all saturated with modern
medical equipment, furniture and necessary articles. In the scope
of these programs doctors and nurses from all the districts of marz
have been trained. With support of World Vision Armenia “Kapan hospital”
CJSC has established Regional Volunteer Center of HIV/AIDS Consultation
and Testing. To provide the invalids with available job Kapan Regional
Employment Center supported financially the participation of 15 invalids
in SEUA Kapan campus computer training courses. UNICEF and Armenian Benevolent Organization of medical
care make considerable investments in the improvement of health institutions
in marz. |
